Blackboard End of Life and Archiving Workshops

Dear Colleagues,

As you most likely already know, our District is transitioning from Blackboard to Canvas. We want to bring to your attention that the last day Blackboard will be active and available to you is May 31, 2017. All your courses and other Blackboard content must be transitioned to Canvas before that date.

In addition to transferring your content to Canvas, you ought to download and backup your courses and grade books. Please don’t forget any committee materials or organizations you might have in Blackboard.

The Online Instruction Department is offering workshops on how to download and backup your Blackboard data.  RSVP is required, as space is limited.  If you are unable to attend the workshop, please see our Blackboard Archiving PDF, which will guide you through the following steps:

  • Download Grade Center spreadsheets
  • Download all files for future use
  • Export test banks for transfer to Canvas
  • Download ZIP export – course content (archive purposes only)
  • Download ZIP archive – including student submissions (archive purposes only)

If you have any online or officially hybrid course(s) that have not yet been converted to Canvas please contact the Online Instruction team at (714) 895-8389 as soon as possible.

As Blackboard will not be available for Summer 2017 or beyond, please be aware that if you grant a student an Incomplete for the Spring 2017 semester, they will need to finish their work outside of Blackboard. You will also need to be sure to retain a record of all previously completed scores for that student, as the Blackboard grade book for the course will no longer be available to you.

Thank you for your patience and support during this transition.
