Blackboard Workshop: Grade Center

We would like to invite you and your colleagues to a hands-on workshop, where we will cover the following Grade Center topics:

  • Creating Columns
  • Entering Scores
  • Utilizing Calculated Columns for Automatic Summing
  • Utilizing Categories for Weighting Scores
  • Assigning Letter Grades Based on Any Percentage Range

I will be presenting the topics of the workshop first, and then I will open it up to questions and independent work.  You are welcome to bring some of your actual grades and key them in, while following along at your computer.   And, time permitting, I will be able to address specific questions and provide assistance with your individual courses.

Your course documents on a flash drive

Join us this Thursday and learn how to:

  • Log into Blackboard & find your class
  • Post course documents (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Create links to content on the web
  • Organize your documents in folders
  • Move/copy items to other areas in the course
  • And more!

This workshop will be hands-on in a computer lab.
Please bring your course documents on a flash drive, so you can upload as you learn!  🙂

Over the winter break, our Blackboard server was updated to Service Pack 10 (SP10).

Similar to the theme update in 2012, this update doesn’t change what you already know about working in Blackboard; however, it does provide some exciting additional features!

GWC Workshop – The Basics of Blackboard Learn – March 9, 2012

Now that you are teaching in Blackboard Learn, I’m sure you have some questions! With the hectic first few weeks of the semester behind us, we are offering a one-day workshop this friday, to cover the basics of our new system.  You have probably already received the email regarding this workshop, but I wanted to post it here on the blog, just in case!

9am – 10am: Adding Content
Building the Course Menu, and adding items/files/folders to Content Areas.

10am – 11am: Communication Tools
Email vs Messages, Discussions, and Chat.

11am – 12pm: Assignments and SafeAssign
Creating and grading Assignments and SafeAssignments.

12pm – 1pm: Lunch Break
Lunch will be provided by Staff Development.

1pm – 2pm: Tests
Creating Pools and Tests, adding Questions to Tests, and deploying Tests.

2pm – 3pm: Grade Center
Organization of the Grade Center, grading, and Calculated Columns.

3pm – 4pm: Q & A
An open Question & Answer session, to address any remaining questions, or topics not covered earlier in the day.
